The principle of the rubber eraser is quite simple. When we write with a lead pencil, graphite particles stay captive in the paper fibers. By using an eraser, we move the fibers about and the graphite particles are freed. Moreover, a rubber eraser has abrasive properties and that’s why it rubs off when it erases.
